Apartheid by Any Other Name: Israel, the Jim Crow South, and the MAGA Takeover of America
The Case to Leave Amerikkka
The Word Is Apartheid. And Yes, It Applies.
We used to think of apartheid as something exclusive to South Africa—a brutal regime of racial segregation enforced by white supremacy and passbooks. But in 2025, apartheid is no longer just about race. It’s a word that has evolved, just like our understanding of justice, power, and oppression.
The United Nations defines apartheid as:
“Inhumane acts… committed in the context of an institutionalized regime of systematic oppression and domination by one group over another with the intent to maintain that regime.”
That’s not just about skin color. That’s about control.
And that definition fits not only South Africa’s past and Israel’s present—it fits something far closer to home:
What MAGA is doing right now in the United States.
MAGA as an Apartheid Movement
Let’s be honest. One group—MAGA Republicans—is:
Passing laws to suppress the votes of Black, Brown, immigrant citizens, and progressive voters
Overruling democratic elections with fraudulent “audits,” gerrymandering, and political violence
Defying court orders and packing the judiciary with far-right ideologues
Banning our history, our books, and our identity in classrooms while silencing dissent
Militarizing state governments and threatening federal authority
They are building a parallel legal and cultural regime that openly discriminates against entire swaths of the American population—and just like apartheid South Africa or occupied Palestine, it’s not just about domination. It’s about maintaining power indefinitely, no matter how the people vote, protest, or plead.
It is arrogant for Americans to talk about "human rights abuses over there" when MAGA has turned swaths of the U.S. into ideological apartheid zones. Court rulings no longer seem to matter—the MAGA movement ignores legal authority when it doesn't suit them. This isn’t democracy. This is regime maintenance by any means necessary.
Israel-Palestine: A Mirror We Don't Want to Look Into
Let’s not forget the global context. Here’s what apartheid looks like in Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories:
Separate legal systems: Jewish settlers live under Israeli civil law. Palestinians are under military rule.
Restricted movement: Palestinians are caged in with walls, checkpoints, and travel permits.
No political power: Millions live under Israeli control but cannot vote in Israeli elections.
State violence: Civilian homes are bombed. Whole families erased. Then called “human shields.”
Even Arab or Muslim-looking Israeli citizens are often stopped and asked to “carry their papers.”
We’ve seen that before. In the Jim Crow South. In Nazi Germany. In apartheid South Africa.
And now? In MAGA America.
Trump Just Bombed Iran…
While this apartheid framework is expanding at home and abroad, we wake up to yet another war:
Donald Trump illegally conducted airstrikes against Iran.
The American public knows this wasn’t for our safety. It wasn’t even about democracy.
It was about doing the bidding of Netanyahu—or, as I call him, Neten Yahoo Yahoo—and further entrenching U.S. support for Israel’s apartheid regime, regardless of the global fallout.
This is not defense.
This is empire maintenance—for MAGA, for Israel, for oil, for supremacy.
Why This Matters to Black People in America and Abroad
Because we’ve lived this. And we’ve survived it.
We lived under American apartheid—called Jim Crow.
We marched against South African apartheid—and helped end it.
And now, we’re watching apartheid reborn, not just abroad, but in our own country, wrapped in stars, stripes, and a red hat.
So when I say the word “apartheid”—I’m not being dramatic.
I’m being accurate.
Final Thought
If America could be wrong about:
Jim Crow…
The labeling of the Black Panthers, the US Organization and civil rights’ leaders as terrorists
The labeling of the ANC as terrorists…
Then why do we assume America is right about Hamas?
Or about Iran?
Or about what’s happening inside its own borders?
We must stop trying to export democracy while abandoning it at home.
